WordPress plugin
A cookie banner with Consent Mode v2
A lightweight banner that works properly with Google: before Analytics and Ads load it sets “denied”, and after the visitor’s choice it updates consent. No third-party services, subscription fees or kilos of scripts, and with honest “Allow all” and “Essential only” buttons.
Try it right here
The plugin works on this page exactly as it does on a real site.
- The banner is already on the page: pick any option.
- On the right you can see exactly what Google receives: the default consent and the update.
- The “Show the banner again” button at the top resets the choice so you can try again.
What it does
Full Consent Mode v2
All six consent types, including ad_user_data and ad_personalization, which Google has required in Europe since 2024.
Consent before any tag
Defaults are set as the first line in the head, and a returning visitor’s choice is applied before Analytics starts.
Honest buttons
“Allow all” and “Essential only” on the first screen with equal weight, plus settings by category.
Compatibility
Doesn’t duplicate defaults if Site Kit already sets them. Supports WP Consent API and sends a sy_consent_update event for GTM.
Change the choice later
A shortcode, any link to #cookie-settings in the footer, or a small cookie button in the corner.
Light and private
About 8 KB without libraries, no external requests or server storage. Works with page caching.

Questions
Is this legal advice?
No. The plugin technically implements consent for Google tags correctly. The privacy policy text and the choice of mode are worth agreeing with a lawyer.
Does it block other scripts?
No, it controls Google tags through Consent Mode. For Meta Pixel or chats I can add a consent check separately.
Why not a big service?
No subscription, external requests or heavy code. In exchange there is no automatic cookie scanner: a one-time setup replaces it.
